Its not every day that someone's profession lets he/she into a person's family and its culture, quite like wedding photography does. Traditions and their importance, are what professionals like us need to be able to anticipate, respect, capture and clearly portray with the end result.
Josh and I spent a whole day with Jen and Iyad, starting in the morning. Josh at Iyad and his family's home in Troutdale, I with Jen and her family in Happy Valley. Hours later, we all met up at the church. A moving celebration; a wave of portraits (that I would have not easily been able to coordinate, weren't it for awesome helpers - part of Jen's family... thank you!); then a trip with the Bride and Groom to Laurelhurst Park in a classic Rolls Royce; then the reception at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. All in all, we spend 12 and a half of the most involved and active and moving hours ever.
Jen & Iyad have a family with an immense and open heart. Josh and I felt right at home with everyone, and felt as if we had known them all for much longer than just that day. I've shed a few tears here and there at the most memorable weddings I've photographed, but NOTHING like at this one. Both Josh and I literally started gushing tears out of both our eyes while trying to shoot the initial, emotional, first entry and first family dance at the reception. That's right, we're admitting it: we lost it!
The raw energy and emotion of the celebration got the best of us! We had an amazing time, we truly did!
We've never taken this many photographs of a wedding day before, so bear with us as we try to summarize all that happened in a short little Sneak Peek! ;)
We love you, Jen & Iyad!
