{Product Feature} A Canvas Print that makes us SMILE!

This is a little bit of a different kind of blog post for us. I promised you on our facebook fan page, that I would post photographs and a review of a canvas company who has provided us with a beautiful sample print. So, here I am! :)

Firstly, I'd like to mention that we have absolutely nothing to do (on a personal or business level) with this company. We are not associated with them, except for the fact that we are now their clients, since the product they sent us today, is impressive!

With that out of the way, here's the scoop:

Hugh Parker, of ZaZa Gallery, offered a free sample for anyone interested in adding a high quality product to their photography product arsenal. Of course, I - always looking for new companies to support, and for new products to offer - jumped on the opportunity. Josh and I both, are big fans of canvas prints. We have ordered some for our own enjoyment before, and they hang happily in our home. We would love for our couples to consistently take some time to choose the perfect wedding image to also have printed on canvas. It feels like a blend of "old-school" oil painting medium, coupled with modern-age printing technology. Best of both worlds :)

Here are some photos I just took of the canvas print in question. Its a 16x24 inch, blurry border, 2" thick canvas. The image is one of the ones I took at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, a week ago. I have included overall photos of the canvas as well as macro shots showing the sharpness of the lines. It is difficult to show exactly how beautiful a canvas print is on the internet. The ideal way to see it is in person. Once Josh and I have our own little open-to-the-public home studio, we'll have them hanging and in plain view!

I'm curious to hear what you think!
Who out there would be interested in having Josh and I actually take this print to consultations? If anyone were on the fence about ordering one from us, I bet that holding one in front of you, would make your mind up right away! :)

As always, thank you for reading through and we appreciate your comments!

{Portland Engagement Photography} Anna & Danny's Engagement Session!

Share|

Anna and Danny are great!
We met for the first time this past Sunday at Crystal Springs Rhododendron Gardens, in Sellwood, OR.

I absolutely love it when we are able to convince and reassure our couples to not be shy or scared to be photographed! Breaking the ice is so super important for both the photographers and the couple... this is what gives importance to our engagement sessions! Allowing them to be themselves and to open up to us BEFORE the actual wedding day!

We met on this glorious April day at the gardens. Sun shining and blue skies! There were so many people enjoying the gorgeous day, but we managed to keep our photos clear of the crowds. We spent a couple of hours walking the grounds and finding the perfect spots to shoot. We had so much fun!

Here are a few images form the session with more to come, of course. We can't wait to see them again and to shoot their wedding!

Wedding date:
Saturday July 31st 2010
Ceremony:
Peninsula Park, North Portland OR
Reception:
Bridgeport Ale House, Pearls District, Portland OR

{Portland Wedding Photography} Fatima & Prince - 4.25.2010

Share|

What a sweet couple!
We had the pleasure of meeting them for the first time the morning of their wedding day, this past Sunday April 25th, and we hit it off right away!

One of our favorite couples from this coming summer wedding season (Holly & Manuel - see their engagement session post here!) gifted us to Fatima & Prince for their day! Manuel is Fatima's uncle, so he wanted to make sure he could offer her a wedding gift to remember... what better way to do this than to gift awesome wedding photography?? Talk about "remembering"! :)

We started off at Oaks Pioneer Church in Sellwood, OR. The ceremony was short and sweet. Portraits with the family were taken and then we decided to take a drive over to The Park Blocks are on downtown Portland. The sun was shining, the air was warm and everyone was happy!

Here are a few of the images we took with more to come.

Thank you, Holly & Manuel, for thinking of us for Fatima's wedding gift!
And thank you, Fatima & Prince, for being so sweet and willing to have some fun with us around town!
We can't wait to see you again and to meet your baby!

{Engagement!} Rebecca & David - Hoyt Arboretum & Washington Park.

Rebecca and David are SO sweet!

They are to be married at Mt Hood Organic Farms in Mt Hood, Oregon, on June 19th 2010. We can't wait! (Here is a {vendor spotlight} blog post we wrote up a few weeks ago of the farms... so beautiful!).

They were adamant about blooming trees in a park somewhere in Portland... after phone calls and web surfing and consulting with my photographer friends... we ended up meeting at Hoyt Arboretum and then ending the session at the main staircase entrance of Washington Park.

Boy did we find blooms! The Magnolia Trail was beautiful and the perfume in the air was so fresh!

Here is a sneak peek of their "Break The Ice" Engagement Session... more to come!

{Happy Family!} Mom & Dad, Baby Lexi & Shep Dog!

Share|

We're always humbled when we are asked to capture a happy family in photographs.

Josh and I met up with a BEAUTIFUL family! Lexi is SO sweet, 6 months old and in love with the camera! Shep is their 7 year old GORGEOUS German Sheppard who is, sadly and unfortunately, inflicted with the doggie version of MS. He has a hard time moving around, but has amazing energy and love for his family - we could see it in his eyes. The way he loves and protects his new little sister Lexi, is inspiring.

Thank you for allowing us to photograph you and see you soon!

{Photo Assignment!} Tiltshift Photography - Portland in Miniature.

Here's a FUN little assignment 7 local photographers are executing this week: Tiltshift Photography!

The 7 of us are past of Luxe Event Production's LuxeNW7, a recently formed group of select photographers who are the preferred ones of Luxe's event coordination company. Some of us a new to business, while others (like Josh and I) are veterans. The combination of the 7 of us will, with no doubt, bring even more inspiration and learning experiences for all!

Tiltshift photography is fun and entertaining. Lenses made for this effect exist, though the same effect can be achieved with meticulous and careful photoshop techniques, as well. The trick is to shoot for the desired result, though, so a perfect image is necessary, in order to get tiltshift's miniaturizing effect. Here are some examples of this technique... photos I took this past Friday April 9th 2010, off of the St. John's Bridge in North Portland.

FUN!
